You don't need to wait until you reach burnout

Caregivers often delay asking for support because someone else appears to need them more.

You may tell yourself:

“I’ll rest when things settle down.”

“I should be able to manage this.”

“Other caregivers have it harder.”

“I don’t have time to focus on myself.”

But caregiving responsibilities don’t always settle down.

Support doesn’t need to wait until you’re completely exhausted.

Taking time to care for yourself is not stepping away from your loved one.

It’s one way of helping yourself continue with greater steadiness, compassion and strength.

This workshop is for you if

You keep going, even when you feel emotionally drained.
You feel guilty taking time for yourself.
You feel frustrated, sad, resentful or overwhelmed, then judge yourself for feeling that way.
You struggle to switch off because caregiving is always in the background.
You want practical tools, not another lecture about “self-care”.

You don't have to be in crisis to begin caring for yourself.

About your Facilitator

Lydia Dyhin, Founder of Calma Caregivers

My understanding of caregiving comes from personal experience.

While caring for my Mum through vascular dementia, I became responsible for appointments, decisions, paperwork and the many practical and emotional demands that arise when someone depends on you.

I also experienced how easily a caregiver’s needs can disappear from view.

Even when the practical tasks stopped for a moment, the mental and emotional responsibility often continued.

Through that experience, I came to understand that caregivers don't simply need to be told to rest.

They need practical, realistic ways to reconnect with themselves within the life they're already living.

'When Caregiving Feels Heavy' brings together reflections, mindfulness, breathing, visualisation, emotional awareness and holistic self-care practices to help caregivers feel recognised, supported and better equipped for the journey ahead.
