Making Space for Grief

Grief can be present even while the person you love is still here.

You may be grieving changes in their health, memory, independence, personality, your relationship, or the future you once imagined together.

Making Space for Grief is a gentle guided Meditation and Breathing practice created especially for caregivers experiencing anticipatory grief.

This practice is not about trying to remove sadness or force yourself to feel better.

Instead, it offers a quiet space to pause, breathe and acknowledge what you're carrying without judgement.

During the practice, you will be gently guided to:

  • slow and soften your breathing

  • notice where grief may be held in the body

  • make space for difficult emotions without trying to fix them

  • recognise what's changed

  • reconnect with what still remains

  • return gently to the present moment

  • offer yourself compassion and reassurance

This practice can be used whenever grief feels heavy, after a difficult caregiving moment, before rest, or simply when you need a few minutes to reconnect with yourself.

Find a quiet, comfortable space, allow yourself to pause, and take these few minutes just for you.

Suitable for: Caregivers experiencing anticipatory grief, ambiguous loss, emotional overwhelm, sadness or changes in a caregiving relationship.
